ANBLS Act & By-Laws
Vision | Mission | Strategic Plan

The Association of New Brunswick Land Surveyors was established by the province, through "An Act to Incorporate the Association of New Brunswick Land Surveyors". This was enacted in 1954, and amended in 1986. Copies of the Act are available by contacting the Association office.

The Act bestows certain responsibilities and powers upon the Association, and allows the Association to develop regulations and policies regarding a number of topics and issues, including membership, member education, standards of practice, Association governance, and committee structures & terms of references. Many of these are established through our By-Laws, which have been written by the Association, in accordance with the powers allowed by the Act. By-Laws may be either created, annulled, and amended by the membership, subject to appropriate voting procedures.

One of the By-laws (Number 10) is Standards; specifically "The Standards Manual for New Brunswick Land Surveyors". All members must conduct their practice of land surveying in accordance with this By-Law.

Another By-Law (Number 14) is our Canon of Ethics. As the keystone of professional conduct is integrity, it is the duty of land surveyors to practice the profession according to the Canon of Ethics.
